Nature walk on the C&O Canal

Train tunnel built in 1823.
Strange looking tree. Emma said it looked like a butt.
Everyone had a turn trying the water pump.

A train we saw on the way home.

Emma and Maggie were complaining and wanted to be picked up after about 20 minutes but we had fun and saw a ton of turtles. I guess that's why it's the Maryland Terrapins.

Emma & Maggie

Just a few silly pics of the two little ones.

HHMI picnic

Every year Kevin's work has a really nice picnic at Smokey Glen Park. They have tons of food, lots of fun stuff for the kids, bingo, doorprizes and my favorite, massages.
This is Emma getting ready to go on the zip line. She loved it! She really is an adventurer. She was a little to short but they let her go anyway.

The three sisters went out to meet her as she walked back.

They all went on the bungee trampoline thingy. I don't know what else to call it. The little ones loved it but the big girls not so much. The harnesses hurt them. :(

The misting tent is a favorite. It seems that the picnic is always on the hottest day of the year.
The little girls had the moon bounce all to themselves. Woo hoo!

Nachos, yummy!

Our jungle garden

At least that is what it feels like to Emma. She is my garden buddy. Here is what Emma and I picked today, two hot banana peppers and a jalapeno.
The sun was bothering Emma so she was hiding her eyes. In this pic she is standing next to the dill weed which is a little taller than she is.
This is Emma's pumpkin that she brought home from the last day of preschool. She is a really good gardener. We have a ton of blossoms on it so if anyone needs pumpkins this fall come on down and get some.
This is the watermelon and strawberries, which are almost being drowned out by the watermelon. The stinking birds keep eating the strawberries before we get to pick them. :(
Here are our tomatoes and peppers. I'm dying for the tomatoes to ripen, some of them are as big as a baseball already. Yummy!
Here are the cucumbers. I'm going to try my hand at pickling them. I can't wait, wish me luck!

Milkshake!

We took the little ones to see the band Milkshake. If you've never heard of them, their music is played on Sirius Kidstuff and they've been on Jack's Big Music Show. They gave a free concert in Frederick this morning. It was really good but sweltering hot. Had it not been so hot the little ones would have enjoyed it more. In fact Emma said it was so hot that she tried to burn up, Maggie agreed that she tried to burn up too. Also on hand was Dora, Elmo, Spiderman, and Batman.
